Kootenai Bull Trout

In the first fifty yards of my first ever float on the Kootenai River I caught a whitefish who pretty much hopped in the boat when an olive monstrosity of fifteen pounds or so tried to have him for lunch. Kootenai Canyon Float

It's been a busy six weeks on the Kootenai, and our personal fishing season is almost upon us. It has been raining for the last four days straight, awe-inspiring amounts of water. This is an interesting tidbit about the recent discovery of a spring in the upper Rio Grande by scientists from NM Tech. Named the Lava Tube, its crater is 12 feet deep and it pumps over 6 thousand gallons a minute into the river system....
